My 15 Minutes of Fame
A couple of days ago I received a phone call with incredible news; my business partner, Adrienne, and I were chosen by PBS to appear on one of their show's called School Me TV with Debbie Millwater. We would be presented as "Experts on Chinese Herbs" and were to converse with the host, Debbie Millwater, about various topics regarding our knowledge on Chinese herbs. The show will then be broadcasted several times over the upcoming months into 450,000 households in the Charlotte, North Carolina area. What an awesome opportunity to not only promote our new business, but to also educate the public on an important subject matter.
Adrienne and I are both Licensed Acupuncturists and co-own a Wellness Center together. Thankfully, that is where the taping took place! We knew we would be a lot more comfortable in our own space, rather in a studio. Plus, we wanted to show off our herbal pharmacy. It is one of the only ones in our city and we are quite proud of it.
Today was the actual taping of the show and I was really surprised at how nervous I was leading up to it. I could feel a million butterflies fluttering around in my stomach the entire morning. Even though I knew the information that I would be discussing like the back of my hand, I was afraid that I stumble over my words and say "like" or "um" way too many times.
Me and Adrienne nervously awaiting our taping. What
a beautiful job she did on my makeup!
Here is a little look at our herbal pharmacy before we started filming the show.

The taping took about 3.5 hours and we recorded 4 different segments. It was unnerving at first to have to talk in front of a camera, however Debbie was great at asking the perfect lead-in questions. Also, since it was not live, we were able to do as many retakes as we needed. They were definitely needed, as we got the giggles a couple of times.
The 1st segment was about mine and Adrienne's education and how our clinic was started. The 2nd segment was about the history of Chinese herbs and how they are currently used in modern China. The 3rd segment was about what an herbal consultation in our clinic would entail. And the 4th segment was about how an herbal formula is chosen.
I would elaborate on the segments, but in about a month the show will be online (of course I will post the link once I know it) and you will be able to see exactly what we said for yourselves.
Me on camera.
Everything went so well that Debbie has already decided that she would like to do further shows with us on acupuncture and nutrition. She might also do a show with me on travel, fingers crossed!

Me and Adrienne thrilled to be finished! I am so lucky to have such an amazing
business partner.

Congrats! What an awesome opportunity! And yeah, your makeup does look awesome. I really like your dress too.
I was sooooo nervous when I had to tape for the Travel Channel too and I ended up doing the same as you....lots of likes and ums. Gave me a whole new respect for people who make their living as newscasters!
